Quotes from Melodiers Fund Supporters

A 1959 class member wrote this to Keith after attending the 50th reunion:

On the drive home I listened to the Melodiers CD.  I have to tell you I was blown away by the trumpet playing!!!!  I loved the whole recording but just couldn't stop dwelling on how young your brother (Noel) was to be so talented.  I really had a great time at the reunion.  We really do have a special class.

From a 1959 class member:

............ played her Melodiers recording for me.  Great. Here's a bit for the endowment fund.

It's a great CD and sounds a lot better than some of the stuff they play over the airwaves today.  It's a most welcome step back to a more gentle time!  Has realty brought back fond memories of EHS, can't believe it's been 50 years!  Thanks again for a great CD!!

What a delightful article. Brings back fond memories of dances when I was at EHS going to the after game dances and formals.  When I began teaching high school I was shocked to find that the only music provided was via records.  I had only been exposed to the Melodiers and assumed that all high schools always had a band at the dances. How naive and fortunate I was.

Here I sit in Scottsdale, AZ... so many miles from my birthplace of Eureka, yet after having read this article..it doesn't take too long to dance down Memory Lane.

I needed this to remind me of what a great life we had growing up in Eureka and being apart of that period of time with "The Melodiers”.

Wish I was going to that 50 Yr. Reunion next month... but I'm too young!

I have to wait 2 more years...

"Good Night Sweetheart" and Red Sails in The Sunset. (Which one lasted the longest?)

Oh How Sweet it was...

Enjoyed the web site and the newspaper article, I didn't realize you had played as a group that many years.  I enjoyed your band once during the summer of 1956, it was a great sound.  Thanks for sending us the info.

I went through the elementary, junior high, high school, and college band programs and was around when the Melodiers were playing at the recreation center on Harris.  I always enjoyed their music and spent many nights dancing to it.  Those were the days.  I can't wait to get the CD. Thanks for your efforts to help others.

I was born in Eureka and danced with my friends to all the Melodiers music.  I've read the article and think it’s a marvelous idea putting it in the Standard Times for everyone to read.  Hope this idea will help and aid elementary school level instrument music for the Eureka City Schools.  I have already a CD of the Melodiers and will purchase another for my grandchildren, and hope this will help the fund.

Newspaper article comments:

This fund is great for the children of today to put music into their lives and back into their household also. Hope the reunion of the 1958 class is a wonderful success, which is Oct. 11th.

I was there at the Carson Memorial building in 1957 and danced with my one and only marvelous dance partner. We went to all the Melodiers band gatherings, even at HSU. I will contribute to the fund and give the second CD to my grandchildren.

The article was a great idea to make more people aware of this fund and make more people aware of the Eureka Elementary Music Program.

I believe the note about the boys having so much fun at that time is fabulous. I can't say enough about it.

It's too bad that we can't all relive those classic and very special days of the '50s, but just think, we can if we contribute to the fund.
